ANY STUDENT WHO WOULD LIKE TO INVITE AN INTERNATIONAL PIA STUDENT TO YOUR HOUSE OR FOR AN ACTIVITY MUST COMPLETE AN OFF-CAMPUS FORM AND RETURN TO THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT.  Sr. Michele has these forms available in room 99.  NOTE:  PIA students are NOT permitted to go with a student driver.

 

SWEATSHIRTS ARE IN!  The sweatshirt which is new this year, and the only sweatshirt permitted to be worn in school, can now be purchased in the bookstore.  It is the one with the 6 inch top zipper.

ALL STUDENTS:  The trip to Washington DC is scheduled for October 22-24, 2010.  Cost: $265.  We need more passengers to fill up the bus!  Please see Mrs. Pirrello in 205 for registration forms.  We visit Georgetown, the Holocaust Memorial, the Smithsonian, Catholic University, Arlington, and tour the lighted monuments at night. If you can’t travel abroad this year, join us to visit our beautiful capital while it is still summer temperatures in DC!

WOMEN IN MOTION MEETING ON THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 9, 2010. We will be discussing the Breast Cancer Walk that is on October 2nd. Also bring money because we will be deciding on shirt designs and ordering them. Any questions see Becca Costello in homeroom 96, Lauren Skrypzak in homeroom 101, Ally Burke, Jenna B., Kaylin Akerly all in homeroom109 or Ms. Betti in 110.

 

Teachers and Students this year there are a couple students participating in the LIGHT THE NIGHT WALK this year. All money raised goes to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. These next couple weeks there will be a coffee can with a Light the Night label at the front of the school at Ms. Dworakowski’s office. Donations are greatly appreciated! Thanks for your support in finding a cure!

 

MODEL UNITED NATIONS:  This year’s conference is 11/12-13.  Our jeans day is 10/7.  Sign up for committees on the door of room 98 and plan to attend the first meeting on Friday, 9/10.  We are Peru and Bolivia.

 

SENIORS APPLYING TO GANNON UNIVERSITY:  Model United Nations is a terrific way to garner thousands of dollars in scholarships.  Please see Mrs. Wojciechowski in room 98 for details in joining our group this fall.

 

PARIS, BARCELONA AND MADRID DURING EASTER VACATION!  Speak Spanish and French the languages you have studied.  See the Eiffel Tower, tour the Louvre, visit the castle of Versailles, see the beauty of Barcelona as you stroll the streets, and let’s not forget Madrid’s Royal Palace and the Prado Museum.  What a trip!  A trip you do not want to miss!  See one of the World Language teachers for information.  If you enroll now you will save $300.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

FEED THE HUNGRY Sunday dinner for the Homeless will be cooked and served on September 12th.  If you would like to help, please sign up with Ms. Zimmerman in the Info Center.  Feed the Hungry volunteers work from 10:45am until about 2:45 pm.

 

ZOO BOO application forms are available from Ms. Zimmerman (in the Info Center).  Because the time slots are first come-first served, it’s a good idea to apply as soon as possible. A training session is mandatory, but the training time is included with your service hours.
