Speech and Debate

Speech and Debate is an organization that promotes speaking to entertain, inform and persuade. Students who are interested in these important skills as well as the challenges they present are encouraged to join.

Oral interpretation of literature and drama, oratory, extemporaneous speaking, student congress and debating are some of the competition events. Participation also includes the opportunity to learn about ideas, current events and literature. Tournaments are local, regional and national.  Every year MPS produces champions and national qualifiers. Members of the team have won state and local championships

As a service to the community, the team offers two Junior Forensic League tournaments to middle schoolers.

Practice Time:
Monday and Wednesday 
3:05PM to 4:30PM in Room 203
