Summer on the Hill

summeronthehillIt’s great to be a Laker when Summer on the Hill kicks off and students from across the region are offered an exciting array of classes, camps and workshops from June through August. There is something for every Laker to love including: science, math, language, special interest, creative arts, or sports. Some Summer on the Hill courses are offered for credit, while others are for enrichment, remediation, or just for fun!

Little Lakers from the region’s grade schools are always excited about Mercyhurst Prep Boys Basketball Camp, Mercyhurst Prep Girls Basketball Camp, Running Camp, Volleyball Camp, Rowing CampPotterpalooza Camp, Summer Performing Arts Workshop, and Bricks 4 Kidz Camp. This year’s course schedule includes online educational experiences through the Mercy Learning Network.

Mercyhurst Prep Term Classes and Remediation/Credit Recovery Classes

Mercyhurst Prep Summer on the Hill offers a full range of summer remediation for students experiencing academic difficulty. Remediation may be available in: Algebra I • Algebra II • Chemistry • Foundations of Scientific Inquiry • Geometry • Spanish • English • Theology • United States History • World History • Health • Computer electives may also be remediated in the summer.

Students will have the opportunity to work through a fourth term (38 hours) of review and graded practice to identify and correct skill deficits. A final exam will be given at the end of the course. Fourth term grades and the new final exam will be used to recalculate the yearlong grade. The first final exam grade will be dropped. The student gains the advantage of enhancing personal skills while improving his/her yearlong grade and GPA. Students may enroll in remediation/credit recovery courses on the recommendation of their teachers and counselors or upon parent request.

DATES: June 15 – July 14 (38 hours)
TIME: 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
COST: $200

• Class schedules accommodate the greatest number of students. • A class must meet a minimum capacity in order to run. • Students are permitted one excused absence in remediation/credit recovery classes. • No classes Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4. NOTE: Private tutoring may available at all levels of math instruction. Fees are negotiated directly with tutor, through Mercyhurst Prep.
