Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC)
- Sometimes referred to internally as MPS LINK*

We benefit with needed scholarship funds, you benefit by reducing your actual tax bill!
With recent changes in legislation, most businesses qualify!

Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program put simply, allows you to take your PA state tax dollars out of the hands of Harrisburg and put directly into the hands of Mercyhurst Prep where you know how it will be spent.  Unlike many other schools and programs, MPS ensures that every bit of your directed state tax dollars, go to scholarships!  It’s a no-brainer and so easy to do.  If you have already heard of the EITC program but did not qualify, please check it out again as recent changes to the program now allow subchapter S and partnerships to participate.

The EITC program is unique to Pennsylvania allowing businesses to make a charitable donation based on the amount of PA state taxes you pay.  In return, you receive a 90% tax credit when you file state taxes.  As an example, a $10,000 donation earns a $9,000 tax credit, plus you can claim your donation on your federal tax return.  Many times this equates to 100% back in the hands of your business with possibly no out-of-pocket expense.  Plus you just created $10,000 in new MPS scholarships!

EITC’s provide much needed lifeboats to students wishing to receive a value-based education from Mercyhurst Prep that otherwise would not be able to attend.  It’s a WIN-WIN situation within your control.

Please consider this opportunity as soon as possible and speak with your accountant, business manager or tax advisor about the EITC program. For more information, to access the application, or to review guidelines, simply link to the Department of Community and Economic Development website at www.NewPA.com, or call David Agresti at (814) 824-2408, dagresti@mpslakers.com

*Mercyhurst Prep has established MPS Link to accept tuition tax credits known in Pennsylvania as Educational Improvement Tax Credit or EITC.  These EITC’s are monies are used by Mercyhurst Prep as a vehicle to provide financial aid for needy students that dream of attending MPS, that otherwise may not.  The Educational Improvement Tax Credit was established in July 2001 by Governor Thomas Ridge and approved by the State Legislators.
