Basketball at MPS is one of the most exciting parts
of the winter. The battles in the gym warm everyone
during the cold winter months. The boys and girls
teams are both extremely competitive year in and
year out and are always a threat to go deep into the
interdistrict playoffs. The girls program offers a
varsity and junior varsity team while the boys does
the same and plays a complete schedule at the
freshman level as well. Hardworking, dedicated
coaches help these programs thrive. The boys team
took the District 10 AA championship and became
Western Finalists in ’02 and D-10 champs in ’99, and
runner up in ’03. The girls were Metro co-champions,
District 10 AAA champs, and PIAA Western
Finalists in 01. They were Metro champs, and
District 10 champs in ’02, ’03. In ’04 they won
Metro, District 10 AAAA, and the state championship
title. In ’05, they won the Region 4 title, D-10
AAA title, and the PIAA AAA state title. This marks
the fifth state title in school history. Girls were
undefeated Region champs in '07.

Bowling at MPS presents a consistently talented
team each year. The girls take on the pins and all
other schools in an effort to be the best. In ’02, they
were Metro champions with a perfect 11-0record.
They were Metro champions in ’03, ’04, and ’05.
Swimming is a competitive sport at MPS with
encouraging prospects. Both males and
females were well represented at Districts last
year. Our home pool is at Behrend Campus
