The Mercyhurst
Prep Community of Scholars team continually cultivates our school community
to embrace curiosity, integrity, pride in academic excellence, and
motivation. They look for ways to discover interdisciplinary
opportunities, which can lead to the creation of courses that encourage
critical thinking and the application of knowledge, and increase enthusiasm
for learning. Our teachers study the latest research on
motivation and determine how they can best apply that to their classroom
methods.
The community of
scholars team introduced a new and prestigious award in 2005-06. This
award is given to those young men and women who have exhibited the
hallmarks of true scholarship. Students can be nominated by their peers
or by their teachers for a consistent display of the above
characteristics or for outstanding scholarship in a particular task.
