Beyond the Hill
Lakers go on to compete and succeed at the nation’s top colleges and universities. Many alumni remain well connected with our faculty and fellow Lakers throughout their college careers and throughout their lives. Each Thanksgiving MPS alumni gather in competition at the annual Turkey Trot 5K, in fellowship to serve Erie’s needy a warm Thanksgiving meal and in friendship at our Black Friday alumni bash at Calamari’s Squid Row. The class of 2014 headed off to college with an almost 100% participation in our Annual Giving drive — that’s Laker Pride!
You can show your Laker Pride & Spirit by tweeting your college photos and joining the Laker story in Instagram #iamalaker. We may share them in our Laker Life photo gallery.

40 Under 40
The Erie Reader is under the direction of Editors in Chief Adam Welsh MPS ’94 and lifelong friend Brian Graham. Adam and Brian saw a need to create an independent source for news, politics, arts and culture in Erie and co-founded the alt weekly, which launched in March of 2011. The paper is available at over 275 outlets and has a circulation of over 10,000 copies. It is also online at the interactive website eriereader.com.
Editors of the Reader compile their annual list of Erie’s “Forty Under Forty” each year to place a spotlight on up-and-coming Erie leaders. Through their careers or contributions to business, government, education, non-profit services or the arts, these young influentials have committed to improving the quality of life for families in the Erie area.
