Laker Alumni Mentor Program (LAMP)

LAMP is a mentorship program inspired by the work and passion of Fr. Michael Allison.

LAMP is a program to help connect MPS alumni with current students for career and professional mentorship. The goal of the program is to provide resources for MPS students so they can learn more about and explore different professions. We hope that through our vast alumni network, we can help light the way for the current Lakers to find their passion and explore new things. We want to show them how Lakers really can be anything and everything.  We also hope to help recent grads and other alumni who may be job hunting, looking to change careers or want to network and connect with fellow alums to help advance their careers.

As a mentor, you will be a point of contact for students who may be interested in your profession. You can be as involved as you would like. If you are available to email with a student to help them learn a bit more about your profession, then great. Or maybe there is a group of students interested in what you do, and you can be a guest speaker to help them learn more. If you are in a place to offer shadow or internship opportunities, that is incredibly helpful as well. No matter what level of mentorship you can offer, we would love to have you join LAMP! Once you submit your information, we will keep it in our mentor database and contact you once we have an opportunity for you to mentor a student or a group of students.

Through this program, we hope to carry on the legacy of a beloved MPS friend who we lost in June 2020, Father Michael Allison. Father Mike was the chaplain and a theology teacher at MPS for 12 years, but, to many, he was more than a teacher or colleague — he was a friend. He was known and remembered for his gregarious and big personality, but even bigger was his heart. During his 12 years at MPS, and even beyond, he was an incredible mentor to many. His passion for helping people is what we want to channel through this program. Whether you knew Fr. Mike and were inspired by his work or not, we encourage you to join LAMP to help inspire and enlighten the minds of the next generation of Lakers.

If you are interested in joining LAMP as an alumni mentor or if you are looking to find a mentor, please submit the designated form above. If you have any questions, please email Lyn Potalivo at .
