The McAuley Scholars Program is a flexible plan for talented students who have completed seventh grade and want to maximize their academic potential. The program offered at Mercyhurst Prep helps fulfill the academic needs of upper-level students from local grade schools and sets a course on the competitive path to college placement.
For more than a decade, the McAuley Scholars program has consistently attracted motivated, mature, and disciplined students. Scholars have the option of selecting one or two MPS high school honors level courses including Algebra I Honors or Pre-IB and Foundations of Scientific Inquiry (FSI) Honors/Pre-IB. If the McAuley Scholar enrolls at Mercyhurst Preparatory School his or her freshman year, credits earned in the program will become part of his Mercyhurst Preparatory School high school transcript.
McAuley Scholars generally attend Mercyhurst Prep from 8:20 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on alternating days. However, many students opt to challenge themselves with two courses and attend MPS daily from 8:20 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
These academically talented students are fully immersed in the Mercyhurst Prep curriculum. Completion of the McAuley Scholars Program sets a Laker on course to jump-start the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and/or begin earning college credits through Mercyhurst University as a high school junior or senior.
