Summer on the Hill
It’s great to be a Laker when Summer on the Hill kicks off and students from across the region are offered an exciting array of camps and workshops from June through August. There is something for every Laker to love!
Little Lakers from the region’s grade schools are always excited about Mercyhurst Prep Boys Basketball Camp, Mercyhurst Prep Girls Basketball Camp, Running Camp, Girls Volleyball Camp, Football Camp, Rowing Camp, Potterpalooza, Summer Performing Arts Workshop (SPAW), Model United Nations Camp, and Visual Arts Camp. This year’s course schedule includes online educational experiences through the Mercy Learning Network.
Summer Academic Programs
MPS offers a number of wonderful classes. These are two week classes specifically designed for review and practice for the upcoming school year. We also offer a selection of term classes over the summer. Students take summer term classes for many reasons. The most common motivation is to clear the yearlong schedule for added classes in math, science, theatre, and arts. Many students also use this avenue to open their upper-class schedules to take advantage of college classes offered at Mercyhurst University. A few students have organized their schedules to become full time college freshmen while they are still seniors in high school (SAM Program: see MPS handbook). Remediation of some subjects is available during summer term. Interested students should discuss this possibility with their teachers and counselors. Potterpalooza, Summer Performing Arts Workshop, Model United Nations Camp and Visual Arts Camp
MPS offers a variety of special interest camps each summer for students across the region:
Our Summer Performing Arts Workshop (SPAW) was a big hit over the past two summers for students interested in dance, music, and theatre.
Students are invited to join us at the MPS campus of Hogwarts for this year’s version of Potterpalooza: A Week of Magic. This has become one of our most popular camps!
Bricks 4 Kidz is back this year for campers who are interested in coding, robotics, and stop animation.
Want to try something different? Model United Nations Camp and Visual Arts Camp are new this year!
